Diesel Mechanic - Truck and Heavy Equipment

Job Summary: Perform skilled and semi-skilled work involved in the mechanical servicing, maintenance, and repair of vehicles, heavy construction equipment, and other machinery. Maintain records related to repairs and shop operations. Work in alignment with the company's goal: One Team, One Mission: Safety, Quality, Production.

Description of Tasks: The following is an abbreviated list of tasks:

• Conduct safety inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Coordinate all repairs and services with the shop foreman.
• RED TAG unsafe equipment as directed by the shop foreman.
• Diagnose and repair computer-controlled systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspensions, drive train components, differentials, transfer cases, transmissions, gasoline- and diesel-powered engines, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems on vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Inspect and replace tires as needed.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
• Perform minor body work, including painting.
• Perform field repairs of vehicles or equipment as necessary, even during adverse weather conditions.
• Pick up parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs; interact with operators to determine service needs.
• Operate hoists and overhead cranes.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly garage, shop, and equipment area.
• Ensure all work complies with laws, regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate work records.
• Work safely, wear PPE, and report unsafe situations.
• Keep work area neat and organized.
• Remain productive throughout the workday.
• Maintain personal appearance per company policy.
• Show willingness to learn site and company-wide goals.
• Perform any additional projects as needed.

Prerequisites for the Position: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; formal education not required.

Skills Required: Ability to learn and apply relevant rules and procedures, follow instructions, read manuals and diagrams, diagnose mechanical issues accurately, and perform necessary repairs.
