Job summary

Transervice Logistics in Dixon, IL is seeking a Diesel Mechanic/Technician on the 1st shift. Starting pay is $35.50/hour with days only and weekends off. Union benefits include 100% family health coverage and a 401K with up to 20% match. CDL A is mandatory.

You will diagnose, repair and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, A/C and drive-trains on tractors, trailers and MHE, plus DOT inspections and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must have Class A CDL.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Certification from a diesel mechanic trade school or minimum 3 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in diagnosis and repair of all assigned equipment.
• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests.
• Perform system repairs including engines, transmission, hydraulics, electrical, A/C and drive-train.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and DOT-mandated safety inspections.
• Operate on 1st shift, days.

• You will maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned equipment.

Diesel Mechanic Requirements:

• Class A CDL **Mandatory**


• Ability to read, write and speak English


• Certification from a diesel mechanic trade school or a minimum of 3 years of related experience as a diesel mechanic


• Strong diagnostic skills


• Knowledge of hydraulics


• Own set of tools


• The ability to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds
