Job summary

Transwest Inc in Colorado is seeking a Diesel Technician to join a team that emphasizes ongoing education, modern tooling, and clean shops. You’ll diagnose and repair diesel trucks/RVs, verify warranties, and coordinate with parts to complete repairs.

Relocation support may be available, and training sessions are provided by the company. The role requires a complete hand tools set and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license and MVR in good standing; ability to obtain Class B CDL within 90 days.
• Diesel Engine Tech education/certifications are a plus.
• Knowledge of Detroit, Mack, CAT, International, Cummins, Mercedes is desirable.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks/RVs preferred.
• Must be motivated and able to work independently.
• Complete online training and attend training sessions at company expense.
• Must possess a complete set of hand tools with rollaway toolbox.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Must obtain refrigerant recovery certification.
• Must pass post-offer assessments and screenings.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform work as outlined in repair order.
• Verify warranty, if applicable, on all repair orders.
• Perform all work with efficiency and accuracy and in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunction.
• Communicate with the parts department to secure necessary parts.
• Save and tag warranty parts.
• Advise shop foreman and provide recommendation if repair order needs to be adjusted.
• Repair documented in technician comments during each active time punch.
• Road test vehicles as needed for quality assessment.
• Maintain working knowledge of factory technical bulletins.
• Ensure customer vehicle cleanliness.
• Maintain neat and orderly work area.
• Accountable for all dealership owned tools.
• Uphold federal, state and local regulations governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
• Perform job duties and functions with flexibility in the event circumstances shift, i.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Activities require a full range of motion including handling, lifting, manual dexterity, finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Position requires sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time
• Position requires the occasional ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 80 pounds
• Position requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range
• Must be able to operate simple, complex and heavy-duty machinery

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
