Job Description - Diesel Mechanic / Technician I (251846)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs, including testing and adjusting steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and engine components, in compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Arrange and obtain inspections and approvals for major repairs before releasing vehicles from maintenance.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in accordance with all safety guidelines.
• Identify and report additional maintenance needs during repairs, including those requiring higher qualification levels.
• Accurately record time, parts used, and repairs conducted.
• Perform road calls and on-road repairs as assigned.
• Report unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse to Lead Technician.
• Uphold high ethical standards and personal integrity, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least five years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Proficiency in diagnostics, electrical systems, and AC repairs.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
• Experience with fleet vehicles, familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possession of the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Valid applicable state license; CDL preferred. The company offers free training programs for mechanics.
