Job summary

Kenan Advantage Group, Inc. seeks a Diesel Mechanic Technician I in Baytown, TX to maintain and repair a large fleet of Class 5-8 vehicles and tank trailers. You’ll diagnose systems, perform inspections, and document work in a safety-conscious shop.

The role includes structured training, advancement opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. Shifts run Monday–Friday with competitive pay based on experience.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years in diesel fleet maintenance and repair of Class 5–8 vehicles.
• Experience with tank trailer inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Must pass background check, MVR review, drug screen and physical exam.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Class 5-8 commercial vehicles and tank trailers.
• Diagnose and repair brake, suspension, electrical, and air systems.
• Complete truck and trailer inspections.
• Perform wheel-end, tire, and preventive maintenance services.
• Troubleshoot starting, charging, fuel, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain DOT compliance standards and inspection requirements.
• Complete repair orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Work safely in a team-oriented shop environment.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance on Class 5-8 commercial vehicles and tank trailers

Requirements

• 1-5 years of diesel, fleet, truck, trailer, or heavy equipment preventive maintenance
• and repair of Class 5 - 8 commercial vehicles and tank trailer inspection
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs
• Valid Driver's License
• Must successfully pass a background check, MVR review, drug screen, and physical examination as a condition of employment due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
• Ability to obtain required industry certifications
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
