Fleet Mechanic to support operations at the Manassas plant in Manassas, Virginia. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed mechanical equipment. Responsible for keeping the equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; performing repairs when needed. The ideal mechanic will have a fleet maintenance vehicle (already owned) and will assist as needed within the Ready Mix network throughout the Virginia area.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel and propane powered engines such as automobiles, trucks and other automotive and mechanical equipment
- Inspect, adjust and replace necessary units and parts including cooling, fuel and exhaust components.
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance work on vehicles, including lubrication and oil change
- Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems; tune engines using standard testing equipment.
- Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts including valves, hoses, belts and alternators
- May fabricate and modify parts and equipment.
- Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair and replacing parts and components.
- Service machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment.
- Keep an accurate log of all work performed.
- Maintain and clean all garage equipment and tools to ensure equipment is kept in useable condition at all times.
- Adhere to company work safety policies
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience performing the functions listed above in a construction, building materials, manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Mechanical skills, physical strength, practical skills, problem solving orientation, and customer service abilities.
- Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to prepare work estimates and quotes.
- Experience conducting routine services and vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail.
- Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Reliable transportation.
- Licenses Required: Valid Driving License.
- Good Driving Record.
- Welding skills highly desirable (CW,CW,CWE or CWRT.
