Amwaste is seeking a Diesel Mechanic/Tech in Townsend, GA to maintain engines and equipment on our waste collection trucks, and provide courteous service to drivers. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, welding, tool maintenance, and adherence to safety practices. The role offers career development and a benefits package designed to support long-term growth.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of diagnostics and repair principles for vehicles and equipment.
• Skills in using tools and equipment for vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Proficient welding skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Job Summary

Performs preventive maintenance, problem diagnostics, and repairs on Company vehicles and equipment.

Major Duties

• Troubleshoots vehicle and equipment operations problems, diagnoses and subsequently makes repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules
• Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment
• Attends safety meetings and classes
• Maintains tools and equipment
• Maintains a safe and tidy shop
• Welds and fabricates parts as needed
• Performs related duties as assigned

Complexity

The work consists of related vehicle and equipment maintenance duties. The variety of equipment to be maintained contributes to the complexity of the position.

The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.
