DHT Group, based out of Reese, Michigan, has been ensuring safety and satisfaction for over 40 years. DHT is hiring at all facilities, including additional Michigan locations in Newport and Port Huron, as well as Bellefontaine, Ohio. DHT has several divisions including Tanker, Gravel Train, Flatbed, Van, Excavating, and Landscape Supply. DHT also operates full-service repair facilities.

We are actively seeking candidates for mechanic positions at our Newport, MI facility. This is a full-time, day shift position. Applicants must have 6 months to 1 year of experience in diesel motor repair.

The Diesel Mechanic will work on a variety of heavy trucks and trailers, ranging from OTR sleepers to Live Bottom Trailers, including troubleshooting and repair of electronic, fuel, ignition, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The mechanic will work independently most of the time but will occasionally collaborate on major projects. Our Diesel Mechanics have the opportunity to learn and develop skills through our in-house technician paid training program.

In this role, you will:

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. Test and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
• Identify mechanical problems visually and/or using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform diagnostics on specific components and systems to ensure proper operation.

Minimum Requirements:

• 6 months to 1 year of experience in diesel engine repair.
• Ability to diagnose issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and differentials.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift at least 35 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat during repairs and inspections.
• Good vision to inspect work.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
• Must pass a drug and alcohol screening.
