Job summary

Waste Management in Houghton, MI is seeking a Diesel Mechanic. This role offers Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm with occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed. You’ll repair diesel trucks and equipment at a shop setting, ensuring reliability for local service teams.

You’ll work with modern tools to maintain diesel equipment and, at some sites, a growing fleet of CNG vehicles. The job emphasizes safety, accuracy in documentation, and teamwork in a busy shop.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs.
• Work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Complete required paperwork and document parts usage.
• Assist senior Mechanics on project work.
• Review repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
