Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Diesel Mechanic at our Key West, FL location to service and repair our fleet. You’ll work a Monday–Friday schedule with optional Saturday hours, in a repair shop setting, applying modern tools and procedures to diesel equipment and growing CNG trucks.

Expect stable hours, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to grow within the company. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of relevant experience, a valid license, and the ability to perform physical tasks.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles and ensure shop safety.
• Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Assist senior Mechanics in project work.
• Review and address repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
