Job summary

Waste Management, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our Shippenville, PA shop. Expect a Monday–Friday schedule, 8am–5pm, with no weekends.

Competitive starting pay of $26–$30 per hour depending on experience, plus tool and boot allowances and comprehensive benefits. You will inspect and repair diesel equipment, diagnose electrical systems, and ensure safety and compliance across operations. Qualified candidates have 2+ years of experience, a valid license, and pass pre-employment

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Be over 18 years of age; legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements with or without accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards and safety procedures.
  • Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
  • Assist senior Mechanics on project work.
  • Review and address issues on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

The hours and location you’ll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM:

Monday – Friday every week Start at 8am- 5pm No weekends We’re committed to offering you stable hours for the financial security and work life balance you need. The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Shippenville, PA hauling site.

What do you need to be considered for the role of Diesel Mechanic:
  • 2 years of relevant work experience

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position across the U. S is $26-$30. This range represents a good‑faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certification, qualification, and work location.
