Job summary

Solid Waste Services of West Virginia, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for our Proctor, WV location. You will diagnose, repair and maintain trucks and construction equipment, using factory specs and safe shop practices.

You will source replacement parts, follow warranty procedures, and work independently in a fast-paced, family-oriented atmosphere that values customer service and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine knowledge and related training or experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and data.
• Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and shop tools.
• Capable of locating and sourcing replacement parts as needed.
• Proficient with basic computer systems and software.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain trucks and equipment per specs.
• Safely operate garage tools, lifts, hoists and jacking gear.
• Identify and procure replacement parts for repairs.
• Follow warranty policies and procedures.
• Analyze problems independently and resolve them safely.
• Repair major assemblies and perform machine shop tasks as needed.

Our Proctor Division, located in Proctor, WV, is currently searching for Diesel Mechanics due to growth!

What You Will Do:

• Perform diagnostic, repair and maintenance on trucks, construction equipment, including auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
• Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and jacking equipment
• Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs
• Adhere to manufacturer’s warranty policies and procedures
• Capability to independently analyze and safely resolve problems
• Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Special projects and other job duties as assigned

Qualifications: You Have/You Are:

• Diesel Engine Technical degree and/or training or relative and transferable experience
• Knowledge in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and jacking equipment
• Ability to Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs
• Ability to read, understand and interpret technical data via instruction manuals
• Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and software
• A valid driver’s license
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Must be organized and motivated to succeed with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

You Might Have:

• A Commercial Driving License (A or B)
• WV State Inspection License (highly desired)
• ASEs
