Job summary

Commercial Metals in Burlington, NC, is seeking a skilled heavy equipment maintenance mechanic to support our fleet and shop operations. You will perform DOT maintenance on road tractors and trailers, maintain mobile equipment and cranes, and ensure preventive maintenance is performed on all vehicles and equipment.

The role requires at least 2 years of relevant experience, knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems, engines, and a variety of mechanical tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT maintenance on road tractors and trailers.
• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, and welding principles/rigging.
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, including fueling, cleaning, and fluid checks.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and calling for repairs when needed.
• Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, and replacing parts.
