Job summary

The City of Lincoln is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform journeyman-level work on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment, including trucks and construction machinery. You will inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul systems to keep fleet operations safe and reliable.

Responsibilities include tune-ups, engine and transmission repairs, electrical systems, brake and hydraulic work, welding, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures.
• Able to read repair manuals and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Complete tune-up, repair, and overhaul of diesel engines and gasoline engines.
• Diagnose and repair using OEM software.
• Repair and maintain brakes, transmissions, steering, fuel, and emission systems.
• Perform welding on steel and aluminum (Gas, Arc, Mig).
