Job summary

XPO is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Parma, Ohio to perform routine maintenance and repairs on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment. You will diagnose issues, use specialized tools, and ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations.

The role offers day and afternoon shifts with a tool allowance, uniforms, full health insurance from day one, PTO, holidays, and a 401(k) with match. ASE certifications and prior automotive experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Two years of tractor and trailer inspection/repair experience or a tech school degree with heavy-duty certification.
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills.
• Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Brake inspection qualified as defined in FMCSA 396.25.
• Vehicle inspection qualified as defined in FMCSA 396.19.
• Willing to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment.
• Inspect and repair equipment, accessing it as needed.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues; perform repairs.
• Adhere to DOT, EPA, OSHA, and related regulations.
• Conduct safety inspections and document results.
• Maintain proficiency with equipment/technologies to boost productivity.
• Move trailers on site using a hostler under various weather conditions.
• Log job times and parts on repair orders.
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles; keep the work area clean and organized.
• Interact with operations and shop management.
