Job summary

RATP Dev USA is seeking a skilled Transit Mechanic to support safe operation of our transit systems. You will perform heavy equipment maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, interpret schematics, and document work in CMMS with high accuracy.

The role requires a safety-first mindset, strong communication, and flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment. Prior ASE Transit or Heavy Vehicle certification is preferred, with CDL endorsement and NC license, and a background in

Qualifications

  • Evidence of a safety-first attitude and ability to operate within a CMMS to create/complete work orders with parts and time.
  • Create and complete work orders in CMMS with accurate parts usage and time allocations.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and understand mechanical systems.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Customer-focused with high professionalism.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CMMS: create work orders, enter parts used and time allocated to repairs.
  • Interpret and understand schematics and electrical/mechanical diagrams.
  • Maintain accurate records and diagnostics using Microsoft tools.
  • Provide professional, customer-focused service and communication.
  • Be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to work independently.
  • Show strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain excellent communication and adapt in a 24/7 environment.
  • Possess 5 years of progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience preferred.
  • Have ASE Transit or Heavy Vehicle Certification for A/B tech levels.
  • Possess at least 2 years of technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Pursue additional OEM training or seminars as desirable.
  • Hold a valid NC drivers license with CDL endorsement; obtain CDL permit if not held.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment such as Cummins Insite and Volvo/Mac.
  • Learn BEB systems, ADA equipment, and vehicle subsystems as required.

Mechanic rate depending on experience

$33.00 (B Tech), $37.71 (A Tech), $40.71 (Master-Level ASEs)

  • $600 Tool Allowance

Mechanic responsibilities and Specific Duties
  • Evidence of a "safety first" attitude
  • Must have good computer skills to operate and competently function within a CMMS. Create and complete work orders, enter parts used and time allocated to repairs.
  • Must have ability to understand and interpret schematics.
  • Intermediate level computer skills (including Microsoft applications)
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Sound judgement; Good problem-solving and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document various solutions to non-technical parties)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment.
  • Five (5) years progressive heavy equipment maintenance preferred
  • ASE Transit Certificate/Heavy Vehicle Certification required for A and B Tech's
  • Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Additional proven training from mechanical/technical schools, OEM courses or seminars desirable
  • High school diploma or GED and valid North Carolina driver’s license with CDL endorsement is required
  • Ability to obtain CDL Permit if a not in possession of a CDL
  • Experience with diagnostic computer equipment and software required (Cummins Insite, Volvo/Mac, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to learn the design, maintenance, and adjustments of Battery Electric Bus (BEB) systems, ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system and sensitive edges, tires and transmissions
  • Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting various vehicle systems
