Silver Eagle Distributors Houston, LLC seeks a Technician for 2nd Shift (1pm - 9:45pm, Mon–Fri) to maintain and repair a diverse fleet, including gasoline, diesel, electric and propane vehicles. Duties include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and performing repairs, with on-road calls and scheduled PMs.

Starting pay ranges from $22 to $35 per hour, depending on experience, plus quarterly bonuses. A strong safety record and DOT compliance are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• 2+ years of Diesel/Automotive technician experience.
• Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Able to obtain and maintain Class C or A-CDL and medical card.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Trouble shoots and repairs mechanical malfunctions on company vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnoses issues, determines parts, and orders through parts rooms.
• Repairs engines, drivetrains, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Performs on-road minor repairs and road calls as needed.
• Conducts preventative maintenance as scheduled by Fleet Supervisor.
• Inspects vehicles for DOT compliance and reports non-compliant items.
• Adheres to safety rules and company policies; performs other tasks as assigned.

Position Summary

Maintains/repairs all types of company owned vehicles, including Gasoline, Diesel, Electric and Propane powered. Trouble shoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions, and efficiently repairs the same.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Trouble shoots and repairs mechanical malfunctions
• Diagnoses mechanical malfunctions, determines parts needed and orders through the parts rooms
• Repairs engines, drive trains, front and rear ends, all air, electrical and hydraulic systems on Company owned equipment
• Repairs, on a minor and/or emergency basis, parts of bodies, i.e., doors, landing gear, etc
• Repairs all Company fork lifts
• Makes road calls on disabled Company vehicles and performs minor repairs on the road
• Performs preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis as determined by Fleet Supervisor
• Inspects vehicle (during P.M. inspection) to ensure all D.O.T. requirements are met
• Repairs all items not meeting D.O.T. requirements; informs supervisor if not immediately repairable
• Performs other tasks/projects as instructed by Fleet Supervisor including but not limited to delivering trucks to and from other branch locations and picking up parts
• Adheres to strict safe working practices, Company policies, rules, regulations, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports to supervisor if not immediately correctable
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Automotive/Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification preferred
• 2+ years of Diesel/Automotive Technician experience
• Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements
• In person travel within the service territories of Silver Eagle required
• Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude
• Must supply automotive hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools)
• 3+ ASE certifications
• Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude
• Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack, electric fork-lift/pallet-jack repair experience preferred
• Able to obtain and maintain Class C or A-CDL, and medical card
• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and driving record within MVR policy guidelines
• Must have the ability to operate both manual and standard transmissions

Physical Requirement

• Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus)
• Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shift
• Ability to enter and exit the driver’s compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds
• Must regularly lift and move up to 100lbs
• Pushing/pulling: up to 100lbs force for turning wrenches, pulling out parts
• Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to inspect and or wash vehicles
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to hear voice commands in areas with a high level of background noise
• Ability to demonstrate or learn to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact areas
