Job summary

Metallus is seeking a four-year Mechanical Maintainer – Mobile Equipment Apprentice in Canton, OH. The apprentice will learn diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of heavy mobile equipment including locomotives, in shop or field settings.

Starting at $33.40 per hour with increases to a top rate of $38 plus a $1 trade premium. Benefits include a tiered health plan, vision and dental, 401K after 120 days, 10 holidays, and educational assistance after one year of service.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required; 1 year of experience on heavy mobile equipment or completed locomotive repair training.
• Preferred: 2+ years on heavy mobile equipment or completed locomotive repair training.
• Candidate has a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Receive work assignments, drawings and sketches for diagnosis and repair of heavy mobile equipment.
• Analyze drawings and schematics to determine tools and procedures.
• Work in shop or field as required.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mobile equipment.
• Operate cranes and heavy equipment for lifting and delivery.
