Job summary

WM (Waste Management) in Monroe, LA, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service and repair trucks and equipment across our community. Starting pay is $27+ per hour with stable hours and a focus on safety and quality maintenance.

You will work a Monday–Friday schedule with some Saturdays, in a repair shop at the Monroe hauling site, using modern tools and procedures to support the local fleet including potential CNG trucks.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant work experience in diesel mechanics.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Perform safety checks and maintain a clean, safe work area per OSHA standards.
• Document parts usage and repair times; complete required paperwork.
• Assist senior mechanics on project work.
• Review and address repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

The hours and location you'll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM:

• Monday - Friday (Occasional Saturdays)
• 8am-6:30pm

The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Monroe, LA hauling site.

Each day you'll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles - the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

What do you need to be considered for the role of Diesel Mechanic
