The Rapid is looking for a Transit Vehicle Technician (Bus Mechanic) - 3rd Shift to join our team!

This is a safety-sensitive position that performs a variety of skilled mechanical duties required in the maintenance and repair of automobiles, light trucks, transit vehicles, and other equipment.

• Competitive pay: $29.40/hour, potential up to $35.56/hour (including $1 shift premium). Pay varies based on experience and certifications.
• Shift: Third (training on first shift for ~90 days).

Responsibilities

• Use hand and power tools for maintenance and repair.
• Maintain records of repairs and maintenance.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair brake, fuel, emission, steering, suspension, and HVAC systems.
• Use hoists and hydraulic jacks for inspections and repairs.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Align vehicle chassis.
• Repair internal combustion engines, transmissions, and differentials.
• Repair seats, doors, windows, and trim.
• Perform emission diagnostics and repairs.
• Minor fabrication, welding, grinding, soldering.
• Perform service calls on vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of vocational training or relevant work experience.
• Ability to obtain Michigan CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements.
• Valid Michigan Driver's license with less than 4 points; no recent suspensions.
• Meet DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening requirements.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
