The Rapid is seeking a Transit Vehicle Technician (Bus Mechanic) - 3rd Shift to join our team!

This is a safety-sensitive position involving skilled mechanical duties in maintenance and repair of automobiles, light trucks, transit vehicles, and other equipment.

• Competitive pay: $29.40/hr, up to $35.56/hr with shift premium (dependent on experience and certifications)
• Shift: Third (training on first shift for 90 days)

Responsibilities:

• Use hand tools and power tools for repairs and maintenance
• Maintain electronic repair records
• Inspect and repair brake, fuel, emission, steering, suspension, and HVAC systems
• Use hoists and hydraulic jacks for vehicle inspection and repair
• Perform routine preventative maintenance
• Align vehicle chassis
• Repair internal combustion engines, transmissions, differentials
• Repair vehicle interior and exterior components
• Handle emission diagnostics and repairs
• Perform minor fabrication, welding, soldering
• Conduct service calls and perform related duties

Requirements for Success:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of vocational training or relevant work experience
• Ability to obtain Michigan CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements (training provided)
• Valid Michigan Driver's license with less than 4 points, no recent suspensions
• Meet DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening requirements
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new programs

Physical Demands:

Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and mobility required. Occasional lifting of up to 85 pounds. Compliance with health and safety procedures essential.
