Job summary

WM (Waste Management) is seeking a Diesel Mechanic in Pontiac, MI for a second shift (2:00 pm–11:00 pm), Monday–Friday with no weekends. Starting pay is $28 per hour, based on experience, with stable hours and comprehensive benefits from day one.

The role involves inspecting and repairing diesel vehicles and equipment in a shop setting at the Pontiac hauling site. In addition to a tool and boot allowance, WM offers healthcare coverage, education assistance, a company-matched 401(k), and

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards and company procedures.

The hours and location you'll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM

• Monday - Friday every week
• Second Shift 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm
• No weekends

The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Pontiac, MI hauling site.

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles - the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
