Job description

What You’ll Do:
  1. Promote Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  2. Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment: Repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment that operates throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime. Rebuild or repair components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, hammers, and differentials to Vulcan’s standards.
  3. Inspect Equipment and Material: Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot errors. Perform repairs when necessary.
  4. Handle and Move Objects: Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and tools safely within the shop and plant.
  5. Document and Record Information: Complete accurate documentation daily and monthly regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports in written or electronic form.
  6. Perform General Physical Activities: Engage in physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Skills You’ll Need:
  1. Experience: 3-5 years working on diesel or heavy construction equipment preferred. Ability to obtain DOT medical card required.
  2. Knowledge of Best Practices: Knowledge of repairing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Must be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
  3. Flexibility: Willing to travel overnight, work overtime, and extended hours as needed. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  4. Mechanical Skills: Knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance. Ability to use and maintain specialty tools and equipment.
