Job summary

Savage is hiring a Diesel Mechanic for the Williston, ND location to support our modern fleet of tractors and trailers. This full-time role offers a steady day shift, Monday–Friday, with a 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule and a strong safety/quality focus.

You’ll perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical issues, and maintain records while contributing to reliable crude oil and transportation operations. This is a growth-friendly role with PTO, holidays, and benefits.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of semi-truck or fleet diesel mechanic experience.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and repair of heavy-duty trucks.
• Experience with suspensions, transmissions, rear ends, air brakes and engines.
• Experience using computer-based diagnostic systems.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems independently.
• Strong commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to communicate with mechanics, drivers, supervisors and operations.
• Understanding safety procedures and regulations.
• Class A CDL is a plus.
• Aluminum welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues.
• Repair suspensions, transmissions, rear ends, air brakes and related components.
• Perform minor engine repairs, including injectors and turbos.
• Use computer-based diagnostic systems to identify problems.
• Visually inspect equipment and identify needed repairs early.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to keep equipment safe and efficient.
• Complete additional shop duties as needed.

Diesel Mechanic – Day Shift

What You'll Work On

As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll help keep our tractors and trailers safe, reliable, and ready to work. Our equipment is used to transport crude oil, pipe, and other products throughout our operations.

Your day-to-day work will include

• Performing scheduled preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, and related equipment
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues
• Repairing suspensions, rear ends, transmissions, air brake systems, and related components
• Performing minor engine repairs, including injectors, turbos, and similar components
• Using computer‑based diagnostic systems to identify and troubleshoot problems
• Visually inspecting equipment and identifying needed repairs before they become larger issues
• Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records
• Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and operations team to keep equipment running safely and efficiently
• Completing additional shop and maintenance duties as needed

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can diagnose problems without being handed every answer, and understands the importance of keeping a working fleet on the road.

A strong candidate will have

• 2–3+ years of semi-truck or fleet diesel mechanic experience
• Hands‑on experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy‑duty trucks
• Experience with suspensions, transmissions, rear ends, air brakes, and minor engine repairs
• Experience using computer‑based diagnostic systems
• Ability to independently identify and diagnose mechanical problems
• Strong commitment to safe work practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with other mechanics, drivers, supervisors, and operations personnel
• Ability to understand written and verbal safety procedures, operational instructions, policies, and applicable regulations
• Class A CDL is a plus, but not required
• Aluminum welding experience is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and handle parts and equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
• Safely climb on and off trucks, trailers, and equipment
• Bend, kneel, crawl, reach, and work in different positions while completing repairs
• Perform physically demanding maintenance and repair work throughout the shift
