Job summary

Savage Services in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on our facility's equipment. You will work with the Maintenance Supervisor to document maintenance in the CMMS and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires experience with diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, a clean background and ability to pass the TWIC and drug screening, with a strong focus on safety and teamwork in an industrial

Qualifications

  • Must pass refinery standards to enter the plant, with clean criminal history, a drug & alcohol screen, a valid Driver’s License and TWIC card.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Experience identifying and diagnosing needed repairs via computer-based systems; able to visually recognize problems is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to operational safety and following procedures.
  • Ability to read/write English and follow written/verbal instructions.
  • Welding experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to perform significant preventative maintenance.
  • Support maintenance Supervisor and other areas as needed.
  • Environmental awareness and ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • CMMS knowledge is helpful and appreciated.
  • Excellent communication and interfacing with leadership and team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory.
  • Learn and partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to use the CMMS for organization and maintenance records.
  • Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures.
  • Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed.
  • Support other areas of the operation as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

The Maintenance Technician at Savage’s Lake Charles Louisiana Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility.

Responsibilities / Job Duties:
  • Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on pickups, mobile equipment, tractors and trailers at our Lake Charles, LA facility.
  • Assists with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
  • Learn and partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures
  • Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed
  • Support other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Maintenance Supervisor, even in areas outside typical diesel mechanic duties
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Must meet refinery standards for entering the plant, i.e. clean criminal history, ability to pass a drug & alcohol screen, possess a current Driver’s License and TWIC card at the time of applying
  • Experience needed in troubleshooting and repairin hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Experience needed in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plus
  • Has an invested interest in operational safety
  • Be able to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Welding experience a plus
  • Willingness to do a significant amount of preventative maintenance
  • Prepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Environmental awareness
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpful
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective interfacing with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team members
  • Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policies
  • Ability to be on call at designated times.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion

Education/Experience:
  • Prior experience as a mobile equipment mechanic/diesel mechanic, pickups, tractors and trailers required
  • Certifications preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
  • Will be on your feet for extended period of time throughout the day
  • Navigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks and other high places, ground that can be slick or uneven, and other industrial hazards
  • The work site is an industrial setting and will require someone who can work safely around this type of environment, as well as ensure compliance to strict OSHA and State regulations
