Utilize expertise in diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to maintain GFL's fleet in safe and road-ready condition.
Essential Functions
- Diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG trucks, including engines, electrical, propane, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
- Lead inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering, wheel bearings, and other critical parts.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to level B and C mechanics.
- Prioritize repairs for efficiency and timely work order completion.
- Review mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules.
- Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
- Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and perform administrative duties.
- Ensure safety compliance and maintain a safe work environment.
- Interpret electrical and diagnostics schematics.
- Participate in training and development to enhance skills.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Education, Training, Experience, and Certifications
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
- Brake safety certificate and 609 A/C system certification required.
- ASE certifications preferred.
- Ability to interpret detailed schematics and manuals.
- Effective communication skills across organizational levels and with customers/vendors.
- Proficiency in diagnostic software and computer literacy.
- Class A or B CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within six months.
- Minimum of 5 years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
- Stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance as required.
- Visual and auditory acuity for detailed tasks and safety.
- Operate trucks and equipment as needed.
- Use of computers and related devices throughout the workday.
