BARNHART CRANE & RIGGING in the United States is seeking a Mobile Crane & Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of heavy equipment. You will keep operations safe and efficient while balancing shop work with field assignments and occasional travel.

Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with project-based flexibility. The role offers competitive pay, full-time stability, a 401(k) with company match, and benefits after 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and diagnostics on diesel engines, cranes, trailers, forklifts, and more.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, including onboard computer systems.
• Work both in the shop and in the field, with a mix of stability and variety.
• Operate independently, managing day-to-day workload while collaborating with the team.
• Travel occasionally to support field service needs.

What You’ll Do

As a Mobile Crane & Diesel Mechanic, you’ll take ownership of maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, keeping operations running safely and efficiently. In this role, you will:

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and diagnostics on diesel engines, cranes, trailers, forklifts, and more

• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, including onboard computer systems

• Work both in the shop and in the field, giving you a mix of stability and variety

• Operate independently, managing your day‑to‑day workload while collaborating with the team

• Travel occasionally to support field service needs

What You Bring

We’re looking for mechanics who are hands‑on, dependable, and ready to solve problems.

Required:

• 1–3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience

• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

• Ability to work independently and manage workload without constant supervision

• Must provide your own standard tools (specialty tools provided)

• Willingness to work safely in a fast‑paced, sometimes high‑pressure environment

Preferred:

• Experience with cranes or heavy lifting equipment

• CDL Class A (or ability to obtain)

• Experience reading electrical and hydraulic schematics

Additional Expectations:

• Ability to work day/night shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed

• Willingness to travel occasionally for field work
