Job summary

Barnhart seeks a Diesel Mechanic to own maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet, ensuring safe, efficient operations. You will diagnose and fix diesel engines, cranes, trailers, and forklifts in both shop and field settings, with opportunities to travel for service needs.

Ideal candidates have 1–3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Ability to work independently and manage workload without constant supervision
• Must provide your own standard tools (specialty tools provided)
• Willingness to travel occasionally for field work

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and diagnostics on diesel engines, cranes, trailers, forklifts, and more
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, including onboard computer systems
• Work both in the shop and in the field, balancing stability and variety
• Operate independently, managing day‑to‑day workload while collaborating with the team
• Travel occasionally to support field service needs
