Job summary

Tindall Concrete is seeking a skilled plant mechanic to maintain and repair a wide range of machinery and equipment in our Texas facility. The role requires diagnosing trouble, dismantling and rebuilding equipment, and ensuring safe operation of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and hands-on experience with diesel engines, preventive maintenance, engine repair, and hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Proficiency in Diesel Engine Systems, Preventive Maintenance, and Engine Repair.
• Experience with lift trucks and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all machinery or mechanical equipment in the plant.
• Examine machines to diagnose trouble and repair/replace parts as needed.
• Dismantle and reassemble machines; order replacement parts as required.
• Keep building structures and equipment in good repair, incl. electrical and plumbing systems.
• Overhaul engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and ignition components.
• Follow Safety and Quality rules to ensure a safe work environment.

Job description

Summary of Primary Functions: Maintain and repair all machinery or mechanical equipment in the plant. This job requires a broad range of experience on various types of equipment including automobiles, tractors, cranes, trailers, production machinery, Travelift, loaders, pick up trucks, lift trucks, etc. Also, includes knowledge of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, heating, air conditioning and sanitary systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.

• Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.

• Dismantle machines and reassemble if necessary.

• Replace broken and work out parts.

• Order replacement parts if required.

• Make all necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation.

• Keep in good repair the building structures and equipment including electrical switches, fixtures, motors, occasional painting or touching up structures or equipment, repairing plumbing fixtures, etc.

• Repair, rebuild, or overhaul internal combustion engines including replacement of piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors, etc.

• Overhaul transmissions, repair fuel injection, lighting and ignition systems.

Job Specifications or Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
