Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, the technician assists in general maintenance, installation, and repairs to expansion units, chilled water fan cool units, refrigeration equipment, pneumatic and electronic control systems, both routine and emergency.
- Completes assigned work orders and/or preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any issues.
- Immediately identifies and reports any malfunctioning equipment.
- Strives to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.
- Helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
- Varies work schedule or shift to meet department staffing needs.
- Works overtime only with approval or when requested by supervisor.
- Schedules all vacation and personal holidays with prior supervisory approval.
- Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school training helpful.
- Certificate of HVACR technical education or equivalent experience in the field.
- At least 3 years of commercial or industrial HVACR experience.
- At least 1 year of practical experience in an accredited hospital facilities department.
Required License & Certifications
- HVACR certifications, EPA certification required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Training
- Ability to perform HVACR work as well as minor electrical and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Some computer skills (work order systems).
- Good communication skills.
- General knowledge or willingness to learn about hospital equipment, including vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, chillers, and emergency power systems.
- Ability to perform tasks independently without supervision.
