Job description

Job Description: Diesel Mechanic

Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Diesel Mechanic for a company based in Pinellas Park, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow in the field of diesel mechanics with a reputable company.

Pay Rate
$22.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Must be flexible.

Diesel Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and other mechanical and electrical systems in trucks, buses, and other diesel-powered vehicles.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid replacements.
  3. Conduct inspections and troubleshoot mechanical issues to determine necessary repairs.
  4. Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
  5. Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings notes.
  6. Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
  7. Determine parts required for each job and interact with the Shop Parts Department to obtain them.
  8. Follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues promptly and effectively
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Type: Full-time, temporary
