Job description

OVERVIEW:

Primarily responsible for daily preventive maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the vehicles assigned, as well as providing onsite emergency assistance as required when issues arise in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

1. Performs basic Pre-Trips on all various rolling stock.
2. Completes all necessary paperwork associated with the assigned job, such as work orders and charging parts out.
3. Drives various equipment safely within the lot or into the garage work area.
4. Adjusts brakes and clutches to FMCSA standards.
5. Performs all Category C tasks.
6. Changes or replaces clutches, performs preventive maintenance on various equipment, and repairs hydraulics or hoses.
7. Completes work assignments with minimal supervision.
8. Performs basic welding functions and can replace various components related to equipment.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be at least 18 years old.
2. Must possess a valid driver's license (MVR check is a condition of employment).
3. Preferred: 2 years of garage or diesel mechanic experience.
4. Preferred: ASC Certification.
5. Preferred: Diesel Certification.
6. Ability to work with Insite software.
7. In-depth knowledge of fleet maintenance operations or transferable skills from similar industries. Ability to provide own tools.
8. Ability to follow Department of Transportation, State, and Federal laws, along with company safety policies and programs.
9. Must adhere to workplace safety rules, including PPE, reporting unsafe acts or conditions, Lockout Tagout procedures, and safety management practices.
10. Willing and able to work overtime as required.
11. Demonstrates excellent attendance and punctuality.
12. Excellent communication skills.
