Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Bronx, New York.

• Hourly Pay: $35.76 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter
• Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday
• Hours: Tuesday - Thursday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, Friday 10:00 am - 6:30 pm, Saturday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work
• Two or more years of classroom training and work experience preferred
• Valid CDL Class A, preferred

• This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become an employee, you must:
  • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test
  • Pass DOT physical
  • Pass Ryder road test
  • Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
• Identify root causes and perform repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
• Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
• Work in compliance with safety, DOT, and other regulatory guidelines
• Support operations as needed, including service island duties
