Job summary

Obayashi Corporation is seeking an experienced heavy equipment mechanic for a tunnel project in Manchester, NH. The role reports to the Foreman and supports site safety and efficiency on an hourly, nonexempt basis with start pay at $51/hour DOE.

The successful candidate will diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered equipment, including cranes, excavators, forklifts, and loaders. Extensive safety training and physical stamina are required for this demanding environment.

Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification required.
• 5+ years of heavy truck/diesel maintenance experience.
• Ability to read repair manuals and use precision measuring instruments.
• Valid CDL may be required for operating certain vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of heavy diesel equipment.
• Conduct inspections in compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work in above- and underground environments, in varying weather conditions and exposure to noise, dirt, moisture, and temperature extremes.
• Physically demanding role requiring strength, stamina, and the ability to perform sustained activities such as climbing, balancing, and material handling.
• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. unassisted and perform movements such as stooping, bending, crawling, twisting, and working in tight spaces.
• Must be able to work extended hours in challenging conditions while maintaining composure in potentially stressful situations.
• Work collaboratively with a team of engineers, geologists, equipment operators, and safety personnel.

OBAYASHI - JAY DEE, JV is seeking an experienced heavy equipment mechanic to provide essential support for our tunnel project in Manchester, NH. This position reports to the Foreman and plays a key role in maintaining site safety and efficiency. This is an hourly, nonexempt position. Start pay at $51/hour DOE.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of heavy diesel equipment (Cranes, Excavators, Forklifts, Loaders, Skid steers, etc.).
• Conduct inspections in compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work in above- and underground environments, including confined spaces, in varying weather conditions and exposure to noise, dirt, moisture, and temperature extremes.
• Physically demanding role requiring strength, stamina, and the ability to perform sustained activities such as climbing, balancing, and material handling.
• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. unassisted and perform movements such as stooping, bending, crawling, twisting, and working in tight spaces.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in heavy truck/diesel maintenance and hydraulic systems with applicable certifications.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engine systems.
• Problem-solving and diagnostic skills to identify and fix engine or system malfunctions.
• Attention to detail for accurate repairs and maintenance.
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina for handling heavy parts and working in various conditions.
• Ability to read repair manuals and use precision measuring instruments.
• Valid CDL license(s) may be required for operating certain vehicles.
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with tunnel-specific equipment (TBM, locomotives, slurry systems).
• Familiarity with underground construction practices.
