Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet in Hillsboro, TX. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on diesel trucks to ensure safe operations.

The shift is 2pm-12am with overtime after 40 hours and a path to higher pay based on experience, certifications, and skill level. This role requires hands-on capability in diagnostics and mechanical repairs, a valid driver's license, and the ability

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

Location: 101 Jennings Pkwy Hillsboro, TX 76645

Pay Rate: $20-$29/hr. More pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level.

Hours / Shift: 2pm-12am M-F. Immediate Overtime after 40hrs worked.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. In this role, you will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks (rear loaders, side loaders, front loaders, and roll-offs) to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
