Job description

Mechanics repair and maintenance the construction equipment, specifically heavy duty Milling and Paving machines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES OF POSITION
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by inspecting, testing, and completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, replacing filters etc.
  • Maintains vehicle/equipment functional condition by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing major failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts and components.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired heavy equipment and trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Complete proper paperwork
  • Order and obtain parts from parts vendors
  • Maintain clean work area and shop.
  • Maintain neat and orderly toolbox, both personal and the company.
  • Duties include safe operation of a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to maintain a high standard of quantity and quality of work.
  • Must be able to work from service orders, verbal instructions, or other directive materials.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS!
  • Assumes additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 1-3 or more years work related experience with heavy truck repair and construction or utility field related equipment.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, Class B CDL and Medical card preferred.
  • Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Specific experience with electrical diagnostics, hydraulics, drive train, controls, and D.O.T inspections.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment repair techniques sufficient to perform installation, repair, and maintenance on light, medium, and heavy equipment like bobcat, dump trucks, Roller and many other milling and paving machines.
  • Must be able to provide proper documentation that you have the legal right to work in the United States.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The following motions will be required: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting - these will occupy most of work day
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. for repetitive lifting while using proper lifting techniques
  • Will be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.
