Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to maximize fleet uptime by performing repairs on trucks, mixers and other heavy equipment at the El Paso site.

You will diagnose engine and electrical issues, operate diagnostic software, and ensure safety standards are met. The role requires 4+ years in diesel repair, a DOT medical card, EPA 608 certification, and flexibility for varied shifts.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Obtain DOT Medical Card and EPA 608 certification.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as schedules demand.
• Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Office) for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant location and comply with company policies and safety standards.
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
• Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software and documents parts usage and repair times.
• Reviews DVIRs and completes repairs accordingly.
• Performs engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests on Trucks, Belly dumps, Mixers and other equipment.
• Performs emergency roadside services as needed using replacement vehicle or service truck.
• Maintains diesel engine diagnostic software proficiency and a clean, safe work area.

Job description

It is the Diesel Mechanics responsibility to ensure that we are maximizing unit uptime. We do this by making all the necessary repairs on our fleet of supers, belly-dumps, mixers, and tractors in an efficient and safe manner. Utilizing the most current repair techniques, computer software, and manuals.

Main Responsibilities:

• Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant location and comply with company policies and safety standards.
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
• Performs complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests on various construction equipment (Trucks, Side dumps, Belly dumps, Tankers, Mixers)
• Performs emergency roadside services as needed. Requires operation of either replacement vehicle or service truck.
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
• Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA/EPA standards.
• Must operate CDL and Non-CDL vehicles to perform road tests, as well as shuttle in and out of the garage for repairs and maintenance. This is a safety sensitive job and all duties are regulated by the DOT
• Must be able to lift heavy equipment (up to 50lbs) including brake drums, tires, ladders, tool chests, floor jacks, etc. when necessary.

Qualifications (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s Degree in Diesel Equipment Technology or related program; or combination of education and work experience
• 4+ years experience Diesel mechanic
• Valid Drivers License
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols related to jobsite construction and transportation
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
• Detail oriented: ability to understand instructions of a technical nature relating to products and equipment
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify and address quality and efficiency issues
• Obtain DOT Medical Card, and EPA 608 certification
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by project schedules and deadlines.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes.
