Job summary

Edwards Equipment Co. Inc. is seeking a skilled Diesel Service Technician to diagnose, service, maintain, and repair construction equipment, tractors, mowers, and related equipment with general oversight.

The role requires 3+ years of diesel/heavy equipment experience or completion of a related training program, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a valid driver's license. CDL is a plus. Training and safety meetings are part of the job, with emphasis on tool handling and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of practical diesel, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or related mechanical experience, or completion of an accredited diesel or vocational training program.
• Experience servicing construction equipment, tractors, mowers, or similar equipment preferred.
• Must possess the necessary hand tools required to perform the position.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic diagnostic and manufacturer service systems.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL preferred, particularly if the position includes mobile service or equipment transportation duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist with a variety of mechanical repair and maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and repair assigned equipment, components, and systems with minimal supervision.
• Service and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, and related components.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and equipment servicing.
• OEM and manufacturer-specific training may be provided.
• Maintain a working knowledge of tractors, construction equipment, mowers, attachments, and related equipment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and manufacturer-approved service equipment to complete repairs.
• Assist with major component repairs and replacements as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair common mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues independently.
• Access and utilize manufacturer service information, troubleshooting resources, and diagnostic equipment including laptops, multimeters, pressure gauges, and scan tools.
• Participate in manufacturer training, dealership training, safety meetings, and team meetings.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and properly maintain company-owned tools and equipment.
• Notify the Service Manager or supervisor when additional repairs, parts, or service work are required.
• Follow all company safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and request assistance when necessary.
• Properly document repairs, findings, labor performed, and additional service recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Working Conditions:

The work environment described below represents typical conditions encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. Employees may work near moving vehicles and machinery and may be exposed to diesel exhaust, fumes, solvents, grease, oil, dust, noise, and other shop-related materials. Work may occasionally be performed outdoors or in adverse weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. These include walking, standing, climbing, lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and working in or around equipment.

Employees will frequently lift and carry parts, tools, and equipment. While performing job duties, employees must be able to communicate clearly, listen effectively, and safely operate tools and equipment. Manual dexterity and the ability to work with small components and hand tools are required.

The use of company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with all company safety procedures are mandatory.

Ability to regularly lift between 15 and 75 lbs.
