Job description

Title: Diesel Mechanic

KAG is North America's largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, delivering energy commodities, specialty products, merchant gases, and food products across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our dedicated team of Diesel Mechanics is an essential part of our business, and we are hiring talented individuals to lead the way to success!

Starting hourly rate ranges from $21 to $45.

Please note: The hourly rate will vary based on factors such as skill level, experience, geographic location, and business needs. By applying, candidates acknowledge these terms.

Hours: Shift days and times vary depending on location.

Relocation: Reimbursement available.

KAG seeks to hire all levels of Diesel Mechanics — Apprentice, Levels I, II, III, and HM183 certified!

Position Summary:

This role involves performing general property and vehicle maintenance and repair duties safely and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles, including tank trailer inspection and compliance with FMCSA regulations, is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs safely and accurately.
  • Apprentices will receive hands-on training in preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs of Class 5-8 vehicles and tank trailers.
  • Levels I & II will learn to use maintenance software for work orders and record-keeping, and assist in repairs of trucks, tractors, and trailers.
  • Level III will perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and evaluations, qualifying with appropriate certifications.
  • HM183 will build on Level III duties, certified as a DOT inspector with at least 3 years of experience signing test forms.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $45.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, 401K with company match, life insurance, disability, and additional insurances.

Requirements for Levels I, II, and III:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1-5 years of heavy-duty vehicle maintenance/repair experience (depending on level)
  • Current Air Brake Certification or ability to obtain through KAG
  • EPA 609 certification or ability to obtain through KAG

Requirements for HM183:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proof of 3-year tank testing experience as a commercial inspector or 1 year under a qualified inspector, with ability to obtain DOT inspector certification through KAG

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds; assistance needed for over 50 pounds.
