Job summary

Aerotek seeks a skilled Diesel Mechanic to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trailers, cranes, processors, and trucks in Decatur, IL. You will diagnose issues, read DOT information, and conduct safety inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities include major/minor parts changes, suspension and wheel-end maintenance, welding and cutting, with reading electrical and hydraulic schematics.

Qualifications

• Proficient in air brake repair, hydraulics, brakes, diesel engine repair, transmission and diesel maintenance.
• Experience as an auto mechanic with strong preventive maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to diagnose and repair engines effectively.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues independently.
• Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documents per FMCSA and regulations.

Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Diesel Mechanic to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on trailers, cranes, processors, and trucks. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting repairs, understanding DOT information on trailers, and performing safety inspections in compliance with FMCSA, company, and other regulations. The position requires both major and minor parts changing, suspension and wheel end maintenance, welding, and cutting operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience as an auto mechanic with a strong foundation in mechanical and preventive maintenance.

• Ability to diagnose and repair engines effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Entry-level diesel mechanic experience preferred but not required.

• Basic mechanic experience is essential; diesel experience is a plus.

• Must possess own basic tools

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
