Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Diesel Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel refuse trucks, and to keep the fleet operating safely.

You will perform daily inspections and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO, and related components. The role offers a starting pay of $28-$55 per hour, with overtime after 40 hours and a $2 shift differential.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing diesel refuse trucks.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of brakes, suspension, PTO systems.
• Strong preventative maintenance skills.
• Ability to work the 3pm-1am shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
• Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.

Job description

Starting Pay: $28-$55/hr

More pay available based on experience, certifications and skill level.

Shift: 3pm-1am M-F. $2 shift differential. Day shift Saturdays as needed. Overtime after 40hrs worked.

$1 for State Inspectors License
