Job summary

Mississippi Department of Employment Security in New Albany, MS is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service and repair fleet equipment and perform routine maintenance.

This role requires reading work orders and specifications, inspecting machinery for problems, and dismantling/reassembling components using basic tools, with responsibilities including building maintenance and site cleanup as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Associates degree in industrial maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems
• Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance
• Inspect or test damaged machine marks and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs
• Reassemble machines aft the completion of repair or maintenance work
• Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes or hoists
• Perform routine electrical maintenance and repair
• Determining causes of operating errors to troubleshoot equipment failures
• Responsible for building maintenance to include, grounds, roof repair and debris removal
• All other duties as assigned.
