Job summary

FiveStar is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair a diverse fleet using a total-vehicle approach. You will perform DOT inspections and maintenance on Cyrus and Newcomb Oil Co. vehicles, including diesel engines.

Responsibilities include estimating labor and material costs, installing parts, and testing electrical and mechanical systems. You may operate a forklift and rotate weekly on-call after hours with other mechanics.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience or equivalent education.
• ASE certification desired.
• Ability to work on all vehicle systems and components, including diesel engines.
• Valid Class A CDL license, or willing to obtain one.
• Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and submit to post-accident and random drug screens.
• Basic computer skills.

General Summary

Mechanics inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair a diverse range of automotive equipment (including diesel engines) using a total-vehicle approach. Mechanics complete vehicle repair and routine maintenance needs for all fleet vehicle systems and components for Cyrus and Newcomb Oil Co. company vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience or equivalent education.


• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification desired.


• Ability to work on all vehicle systems and components as needed, including diesel engines.


• Familiar with mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures.


• Valid Class A CDL license, or willing to obtain one.


• Professional appearance and a positive attitude.


• Team player, honest, hardworking, and excellent attendance.


• Safe Driving Record


• Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and submit to post-accident and random drug screens once employed.


• Basic Computer Skills.

Physical Requirements

• Able to work in indoor shop with varying temperatures, occasional outdoor work as needed.


• Some travel may be required, typically day trips only.


• Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing to the top of a tanker.


• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
