Job description

Job Title: Mechanic

As a Mechanic, you will perform repair work and maintenance for buses.

You will conduct routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups, and repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical components. You will test specific parts and systems to ensure proper functioning and examine critical parts using standard checklists. Identifying mechanical issues visually or with computer diagnostic equipment and test-driving vehicles to confirm safe and proper operation are also part of your responsibilities. Planning the timetable to complete repairs and maintenance efficiently is essential.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Mechanical repair skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read service and repair manuals
• Proficiency with computer diagnostic equipment, hydraulics, and related software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or related field
• At least two years of related experience
• A commercial driver’s license (may be obtained through training)
• State inspection license and hydraulics certification

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and safety inspections
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
