Job description

The Diesel Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for assisting in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment associated with the company’s line handling boats and dock facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting Maintenance Manager in Cummins Diesel repairs to boats.
  • Perform basic trouble shooting on Cummins 6BT, QSB engines.
  • Performing Replacing Lines and equipment in boats.
  • Refueling boats when required.
  • Assisting maintenance mechanic on major boat repairs when required.
  • Maintaining the shop and surrounding grounds in good order including building maintenance.
  • Purchasing supplies under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Picking up parts and supplies from vendors when necessary.
  • Assisting in hurricane procedures when required.
  • Assisting TEXMOOR in developing and improving their Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Participating in after hours callouts or emergency callouts.
  • Able to use company truck to pull boats on trailers.
  • Launch and retrieve boats from boat ramps.
  • Be able to drive boats.
  • Basic electrical, and welding experience a plus.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; OR two years related experience or training.
  • Valid TWIC and Driver’s License.
  • QMED or DDE 1000 qualifications appreciated, but not required.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the maintenance mechanic is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear, swim. It is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance. The assistant must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. These tasks are performed day or night and in all types of weather conditions. Work on/near deep water and electricity.
