Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Diesel Engine Mechanic in Pasco, WA, to maintain and repair diesel locomotives as part of the Mechanical Department. The role requires working full-time (40 hrs/wk) with overtime, night shifts, weekends, and holidays; safety is a core value and on-the-job training is provided.

Relocation is not offered; a 60-calendar day probation for new hires applies. The position offers union benefits and protective equipment as part of a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• Able to work now and in the future without sponsorship.
• 18 years of age or older by start date.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain diesel locomotive engines and components.
• Test and restore brake systems, safety devices, air compressors, and related systems.
• Install, disassemble, or replace locomotive diesel engine parts.
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment under various weather conditions.
