Qualifications

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proficient verbal and written communication
  • 4 years of education or work experience as a mechanic or journeyman card
  • Experience performing quick visual inspections
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and regulations
  • Willingness to relocate
  • Commitment to safe work habits
  • English assessment required before interview

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment and use measuring instruments, hand tools, forklifts, cranes and hoists
  • Communicate technical information verbally and in writing
  • Read diagrams and input data into computer systems
  • Ensure equipment and materials are available for use
  • Develop positive relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Comply with railroad safety and FRA rules
  • Diagnose locomotive malfunctions and repair components
  • Inspect and service locomotives per standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
