Capitol Aggregates seeks a Mechanic Technician 1 to support maintenance, inspection, and repair of vehicle and equipment at our plant locations. The role is primarily shop-based with some plant-site work and involves heavy and light equipment, gas/diesel engines, and support systems.

You will perform repairs, preventive maintenance, welding, fabrication, and diagnostic work, with emphasis on safe, compliant operations and timely service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics highly desired.
• Valid and clean driver’s license.
• Proficient with computers and diagnostic software.
• Ability to operate a truck-mounted crane.
• Ability to provide own basic tools.

Responsabilités

• Perform maintenance and repairs on trucks and equipment.
• Respond to routine service calls on on-road and off-road equipment.
• Perform maintenance on heavy equipment such as loaders and bulldozers.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machine work.
• Troubleshoot and rebuild equipment systems as directed.

Position Overview

The Mechanic Technician 1 is responsible for supporting the inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of a wide range of operating equipment and vehicles at Capitol Aggregates plant locations. This role is primarily shop-based but may require work to be performed in plant environments as needed. Equipment serviced includes heavy and light automotive equipment, earth-moving machinery, internal combustion engines (gas and diesel), air compressors, pumps, vac trucks, sweepers, golf carts, and other support equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Perform maintenance and repairs on trucks, vehicles, and equipment, completing both major and minor work as assigned.
• Respond to routine service calls on both on-road and off-road equipment.
• Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment such as loaders, bulldozers, off-highway trucks, and skid steers.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machine work.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rebuild equipment systems as directed.
• Maintain clean equipment, shop areas, and workspaces daily.
• Follow all related and established company, plant, and safety regulations.

Education, Skills, Abilities and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics highly desired but not required.
• Must have a valid and clean driver’s license.
• Must be proficient with computers.
• Must have proficient knowledge of and ability to use software to diagnose and repair component systems.
• Must be able to operate a truck-mounted crane.
• Ability to provide own basic tools.

Other Qualifications

• Demonstrated aptitude for learning complex mechanical trade skills.
• Proven ability to operate a service truck in and around heavy traffic.
• Ability to provide timely customer service at all plants or locations.
• Must be flexible in work schedules and start times.
• Must have good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
