Job summary

Structural Building Systems is seeking a full-time Mechanic to repair and service a range of construction equipment, vehicles, and machinery. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, accurate record-keeping, and collaboration with field personnel to ensure equipment readiness.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2–5 years of heavy equipment experience, and strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with proficiency in manuals and blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical degree or certification in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or related field is preferred.
• Two to five years of mechanic experience, ideally in construction or heavy equipment settings.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Proficient in reading manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Welding or fabrication skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on construction equipment (ex excavators, bulldozers, loaders, heavy machinery, trailers, crew trucks).
• Conduct preventive maintenance according to schedules and guidelines.
• Maintain digital records of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Collaborate with field personnel to assess equipment needs and address concerns.
• Ensure safety regulations and company policies are followed during tasks.
• Keep tools and equipment inventory organized.
• Ensure work areas, parking, and grounds are clean and safe, following safety protocols.
