Job summary

Aggreko in Richmond, VA is seeking a Diesel Generator Technician to install, commission, maintain and repair power generation equipment. The role supports both field and service-center operations with safety and customer satisfaction as priorities.

You will work at the Richmond service center and in customer locations, with opportunities for overtime and travel. A strong background in generators and HVAC systems, plus a valid driver's license, is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 7+ years experience on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment.
• Experience calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements; ability to read schematics.
• May need TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain diesel generators, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment, and oil-free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop and customer sites and perform repairs.
• Work independently or with other technicians in shop or on customer sites.
• Support field and service center operations while ensuring safety and compliance.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as Diesel Generator Technician based in Richmond, VA.

You’ll perform installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of Aggreko's electrical power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, load banks, cables, and related systems. This role supports both field and service center operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, technical standards, and customer expectations.

What you’ll do:

• You’ll be based out of our Richmond, VA. service center.
• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations and handle the repairs.
• You will either be out on your own or teamed up with other technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites.

You are:

• High School diploma/GED
• 7+ years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card
• Valid driver’s license

• Must be able to stand,walkand sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrainwith functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that willpermitwork to be safely performed from ground / floor level tofull overhead level
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items,functional hand-eye coordination, andfunctionally grip with adequate strength to safelyhold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs.), push/pull (80 lbs.), carry (60 lbs.), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs.), stoop, kneel and squat
